If there is
one thing that can be said about Diamonds International is that they
know how to develop and integrate quickly. With eight store locations
across the island and a deep sense of corporate responsibility, Diamonds
International continues to expand and strengthen its corporate and community
ties.
Diamonds
International, progeny of parent company Almod Inc., a New York based
company with over twenty years of whole sale experience in the diamond
trade, decided to enter the retail market in 1988 and has since then grown
to over 110 stores in 25 different locations through out the Caribbean,
Mexico and the USA.
Not only are they a dominant force in the diamond industry,
but Diamonds International in a short eight years has managed to secure some
of the world’s most exclusive watch brands and also an
exclusive status for some of these brands. Cartier, Breitling, Piaget,
IWC, Audemars Piguet, Chopard, Hublot, Gerald Genta, Glayshutte,
and Girard-Perregaux to name a few have found a place in their world
of horological masterpieces.
Diamonds International
has successfully managed to integrate these brands in the promotion of our
tourism product and bring some international flavour to Barbados. Piaget
has been the sponsor of the two most popular polo tournaments in Barbados:
the International 16 Goal Polo Challenge and the Battle of the
Sexes (Ladies vs. Men) tournament for the past two years and has
committed for yet another year. International brand Cartier launched
their Divan creation three years ago with Diamonds International at the star
hotel Fairmont Royal Pavilion and continued their commitment in the
following year by sponsoring the first ever 16 goal International polo
tournament in the Caribbean. Cartier is sponsor to the most
popular polo event which is held in St. Moritz. Swiss design house
Chopard joined the team by sponsoring one of Barbados’ most talked about
events, the Gold Cup Festival’s “Broadway to Barbados”, an event that
is patron to many worthwhile charities on the island. Last and certainly
not least is the fabulous support that Audemars Piguet has given to
the racing industry by teaming up with Diamonds International to sponsor the
Diamonds International Horse Race Challenge Series for two year old
Caribbean bred horses. The entries each year are increasing which is a clear
indication that local breeding is on the rise with greater revenue earning
potential for industry partners like the grooms, jockeys, owners and
trainers.
From inception Diamonds International showed their
commitment to the Barbadian community by becoming involved in many charity
events and in some cases spearheading such events. Diamonds International
is one of the founder sponsors of the Gold Cup Festival and is the
first company to initiate the concept of golf tournaments to raise funds for
the Substance Abuse Foundation’s Verdun House project and the
Rotary Club West for a Scholarship Trust Fund and the
Pediatric Ward. For the past six years Diamonds International has
raised over $300,000 per annum for its charities and the company’s
involvement in charities and similar events augments each year.
So what can we expect from the leading retailer of diamonds,
diamond jewellery and luxury timepieces in the near future? More stores in
the Caribbean? More luxury brands sponsoring events in Barbados? More help
for those less fortunate? More international exposure for beautiful
Barbados and its people? Your guess is as good as mine but I think we can be
sure to see more of Diamonds International as they welcome us to their
world.
